Crazyness

Hello all! This past week as been nuts! Staying up late with homework and crafting. Thursday night I got to hear Anne Griffiths speak at my college. She was the first female National Geographic photographer!! Then Friday I got to go to Crystal Bridges American Art Museum in Arkansas. I feel very blessed this week. Well here are a bunch of projects!!


The above picture is the cover of a chipboard mini album I made for a friends baby shower. I cut out the babys name from the songbird cartridge. The flowers are prima. The below pictures are the pages in order. The two covers have the same patterned paper.

I read an interview with Tim Holtz earler this week and something he said (can not remember now lol) inspired me so I have been experimenting with the inside of cards!!

Spring Break Fun and Card Share

This past Wednesday I got to meet my cousin Aurora! I did a layout about her birth called Hope a couple months back. She is so cute and fun!! This was my favorite photo taken with her!
Saturday when we arrived at the my parents house Caleb and Danny went outside to play with foam swords. I captured the fun!

A trip to the city is not complete without a trip to Hobby Lobby! I used a coupon and got all pictured for 20.00 on the nose!!My friend and her longtime partner got married over spring break so I created this card for them! I distressed the tag with Vintage Photo and Dried Marigold Tim Holtz ditress inks. I heat embossed the vintage wedding cake on the tag. I used a fiskars background stamp on the card base tone on tone. The black patterned paper is from Little black Dress collection from Basic Grey and the text patterned paper is from My Minds Eye sorry I dont know the collection. The ribbon is from my stash. I stamped the sentiment in Teddy Bear brown ink. I also round the upper corner of the card. I recently read a interview with Tim Holtz in Card Maker Magazine. And this is a quote from the article that inspired me " Embrace imperfection, try new things and be creative. What you'll discover will be wonderful- what you'll discover will be yourself". I now have that written on a dry erase board in my studio and am taking it to heart. The picture below is the inside of the card.Thank you for reading. Have a great day!

Spring Break

This week is spring break! Saturday thru Wednesday we are with my family. Saturday we got to see my little brother play soccer. Then Sunday we went to the zoo. I took over 100 photos. Hello mini album! 50 something photos of a baby elephant lol. Today it rained ALL day so I spent the day watching movies and working on the wedding invitation order. I did learn how to make layout and card sketches in the paint program on the computer. Here is my work space til Wednesday! I will post pictures of our break here.

cards, layouts, and a frame

The card above is a 5x7. I cut the mickey out from the mickey and friends cricut cartridge. I made it for my husbands cousin who is turning 3.
I made the frame above for a family picture. I painted it black. Adhered cardstock letters spelling family in the left upper corner. I painted over them with black paint. I put prima flowers in the bottom right corner and then adhered two strings of pearls.
The layout above is for Dannys book. I adapted a 8.5x11 sketch from Page Maps to a 12x12.

The card above is a 4 1/4x 5 1/2. It is a male birthday card. This was the first project I ever wet embossed on ever!

Memory Boards, Gift Stuff, Cards, and a Layout Good Grief!

This week I have been working madly working on a wedding invite order (120) and a banner for the same client. BUT I have been making time to work on project s for me and building mt crafting heaven. My husband got me the book Organizing Your Scrapbooking Supplies for our 1 year wedding anniversary which is the 23rd of this month. It came in early this last week and I have already read it and have great ideas for my new room. Here is the last weeks projects.The memory board above is the second one I made. I like it a lot better than the first one. They will hang vertically on either side of my inspiration board and hold photos that I am most inspired by! Wal-Mart was having a fabric sale (still going on) so I bought 2 yards of two types of fabric. The fabric, ribbon, and buttons are all adhered with hot glue.
The gift bag above is to hold my brothers birthday gift!! I get to see him next weekend! I can get two plain brown gift bags for a dollar at my local Dollar Tree. The patterned paper I used on the bag is also on the tag and his card! The birthday boy image is from A Childs Year Cricut Cartridge cut at 5 3/4 inches.
I am part of my colleges branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) and we did a film screening Tuesday night of Miss Representation (a documentary I highly recommend) and Thursday we had a Panel discussion over the movie. I made these thank you cards for the panelists. I handmade the flowers.
The layout above I made for Danny's book. I need to fix it I accidentally stamped 2011 when I was 2010 lol. I is about the night we got engaged. I created this page at a crop with a group I created at my school we meet twice a month now to play!
My first memory board. I made it the same way I made the other one. The only thing I don't like about this one is the two different types of ribbon. Oh well!
THe gift tag to go with the bag. The cupcake is from A Childs Year Cricut cartridge and cut at 3 1/4 inches. The tag itself is cut from George abd Basic Shapes Cricut cartridge at 5 1/2 inches. Busy Little Bee

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting much I have been working on a wedding invitation order and school. Of course I have squeezed in a little me project time. I made a memory board. I have been planning on making two of them for several months but could never bring myself to spend the money on the fabric BUT Wal-Mart was having a sale on some fabric this past week soooo I bought some. I really like how the first one turned out the only thing that bugs me is I had to use two different types of ribbon on it. I will show a picture this weekend. I am also thinking of switching from blogger to wordpress. I have added several new videos on my youtube channel so check it out look up Britany Burris. Have a great Wednesday!

Birthdays Galore!

The above card is made for my husbands cousins birthday. The image is from A Childs year cartridge. I love that saffron pattern I used it on almost every card I made. This month has a lot of birthdays for my family and friends mostly male!
The card above is from my brother. My baby bro is turning 9! Good lord where did the time go???
The card above is my hubbys birthday card. He turned 26 yesterday. I really like it. I inked the edges of the label with dried marigold distress ink. I am obsessed with them now!
I did the double spread layout for my 2011 book. It is over the experience of buying our first kitchen table and putting together. I cut the title from the Jubliee cartridge. I used a sketch again.
The card above is for my uncles birthday. Very simple yet timeless design.
